The same app, upgraded twice

Digify and the web app of a Nordic B2B software company were one product until 2022: the same code, a similar size, the same Vue 2 setup.

By hand, 2023

Digify's own move from Vue 2 to Vue 3 in 2023 began with two weeks of work by two developers. Fixes followed for about six months, mixed in with other product work. It shipped without automated tests.

By Zefana, 2026

In 2026 Zefana took the other app from Vue 2 to Vue 3.5 and Vuetify 4, and from webpack to Vite. The upgrade was finished in the code base in about five weeks, with no code written by hand.

Before the switch to Vue 3, more than 3,000 automated tests were in place.

The new version was then checked against the old one, screen by screen.

What made the difference

Converting the components took a few days both times. The difference was everything around it.
